38 weeks! She’s almost here! Just like I wrote on Instagram, it’s gone both fast and slow at the same time. It definitely seems a lot faster when you’re watching someone else on their pregnancy journey. As far as your own it’s difficult not to get impatient sometimes in all the anticipation of meeting this little human you created! I mean, if this were a recipe, and you looked down and saw the cook time said 40 weeks…so long to wait!
One of the beautiful parts about pregnancy (yes! There are actually many!) is knowing at that point (if it’s your first) that there’s now a finite amount of time left without the presence and responsibility of another family member, one who will be counting on you 24/7. While many pregnancies are planned, therefore we’re happily signing up for it, there’s still a newfound appreciation and love for the time during pregnancy. I think that’s also why taking a “Babymoon” has become increasingly popular. Take advantage of those moments with your partner and relax!
My other favorite part about pregnancy: the tribe. Whether it’s through my pre-natal yoga classes, meeting other women at the doctor’s office, going to get-togethers through my doula, or through social media, and of course my amazing friends, there’s such a support system around pregnancy. The most surprising place I found it was on Instagram. Before pregnancy I rarely posted any photos of myself. It just wasn’t for me and I maybe wasn’t confident enough to even know what I was “showing” you. I thought well, I’m focused on nutrition and overall wellness, so that’s all I need to focus on. But there’s a greater story involved, the person behind the camera who people could better connect with. Pregnancy gave me that confidence because I am both honored and proud to be carrying another life. I wanted to share. And with that came the support, encouragement, and connections with other moms-to-be.
You know what else has been fun?! All the pregnancy fashion. I love searching the hashtag #stylishbump or #maternityfashion (along with many others but I’ll spare you all the hash-tagging). I’ve been reluctant to buy much maternity wear. It’s important to be comfortable, but I’ve also managed to (mostly) get away with just buying larger sizes than usual. When Pink Blush Maternity approached me about a collaboration, I was more than excited, especially since they asked me at pretty much my peak bump size! They have so many pretty maternity options! I’ve seen so many beautiful (affordable!) pieces on both their site and on other pregnant women I follow on social media. Here are the items I decided to get (links are below):
I love love these pieces and I’m sure I’ll wear them after pregnancy as well! With only two weeks to go I can start thinking about that now 🙂
Maybe there will be one or two more posts before my post on the delivery! We shall see when she decides to make her debut!
