Water retention. Bloating. Cravings. Fatigue. Hunger. Slow or poor digestion. Sounds a lot like pregnancy (trust me, I know!), but truth be told these symptoms are not limited to those who are expecting! Most of us do not consume enough water throughout the day, and all of these symptoms are often the culprit simply from a lack of hydration. With summer approaching, I figured it would be the perfect time for a fun reminder how much we should actually be drinking with a 5-Day Water Challenge! This is completely free and just a fun way to all be consciously keeping hydrated–together (Official challenge at the bottom of this post)!
For many, water is boring (which is exactly why I’m creating a group of people who can cheer each other on to make it more fun!) I could personally use your encouragement! During pregnancy it’s been especially important for me to keep hydrated for the baby and maintain my energy levels. It’s going to be even more important after while breastfeeding too. So let’s do this 🙂
Other than the support of others, there are ways to jazz up water-drinking that not only make it tastier, but more nutritious too. Win-win. And guess what? We are now in that time of year where so many delicious fruits are back in season so there are endless options how to “dress up” that drink!
As far as how all this water will be consumed throughout the day in, that’s up to you! You can use any kind of cup/glass/travel container/gallon jug to what best suits you whether you’re at home or on the go. Here are some fun ways to dress up your drink (if you prefer plain water, that’s completely fine too! Adding fruit is not a requirement!):
- Strawberry-Lemon-Basil (above)
- Watermelon & Mint
- Cucumber & Lemon
- Strawberries & Blueberries
All the ingredients can either be added whole (like blueberries below) or chopped/sliced. Be sure to wash them before you add them! And always feel free to add ice. OR combine both ideas and make these into ice cubes! Like this (heart mold from IKEA):
Here are some examples of some fun containers to drink/store your water in:
- Alladin Plastic Mason Jar Travel Mug, Target
- Shake and Infuse Pitcher, Amazon
- Rubbermaid Covered Pitcher, Amazon
- 1 Gallon Water Jug by Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water, at your local grocery or drug store
